This is a throwback to Philippians 1:27, where Paul opens the epistle by expressing his desire to hear that the Philippians are “standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” The idea is to be immovable in their faith and service of the Lord, particularly in contrast to the highly volatile world in which we live.
